Special Awards
This special award will be given to an individual who has dedicated their career to the advancement of corporate sustainability and achieved exemplary success. The winner of this award will be selected by the edie team with input from the judging panel. Previous Lifetime Achievement Award-winners include Dean of the Fletcher School at Tufts University Rachel Kyte (2023), Climate Change Committee Chair Lord Deben (2022), former Director of the Cambridge Institute of Sustainability Leadership Dame Polly Courtice (2021), Forum for the Future Founder-Director Jonathon Porritt (2020), and former Unilever chief executive Paul Polman (2019).

To achieve the net-zero transition on a planet stressed by climate change and diminishing natural resources, our buildings and infrastructure must be truly sustainable. This award recognises the most innovative and inspiring green building and infrastructure projects undertaken over the past 18 months – including, but not limited to, new building developments, retrofitting programmes, energy efficiency upgrades, smart grid applications, transport, water infrastructure and natural capital initiatives.

This long-standing, coveted award recognises the best examples of proactive energy management. From the implementation of onsite energy technologies and management systems to improve energy efficiency, through to renewable energy tech rollouts and broader smart grid systems – the award is for organisations of all industry types and sizes that have delivered ambitious energy projects and initiatives over the past 18 months. Thousands of businesses have set ambitious decarbonisation targets which support national net-zero goals. But such targets will only be achieved with credible, robust corporate strategies. Who will be named edie’s Sustainability Leader of the Year for 2024?
