OUR MISSION

Marking almost 10 years since the historic signing of The Paris Agreement at COP21, there is no mistaking the vital importance of this year’s climate summit. But arguably the most important aspect of COP30 is enabling the corporate cross-sector collaboration which will turn global climate ambitions into local sustainability actions.

Through this event, edie, the BBC and Planet Mark are uniting UK-based business leaders, policymakers and NGOs to provide much-needed updates live from COP30 and to discuss what must happen next to doubling down on action and speed up climate adaptation measures.

ABOUT COP30

The 30th UN Climate Summit: A Defining Moment

The 30th UN Climate Change Conference (COP30) will take place in Belém, Brazil, from 10–21 November 2025. Nearly a decade since the historic Paris Agreement was signed at COP21, the stakes couldn’t be higher.

With 2024 now officially the warmest year on record, the consequences of inaction are evident:

  • Record-breaking heatwaves
  • Wildfires consuming ecosystems
  • Catastrophic floods and storms
  • Rising economic instability

Adding to the challenge, rising political resistance to net-zero policies has intensified pressure on businesses to lead the way.

ABOUT THE EVENT

With all eyes on Belém for COP30, this exclusive high-level event convenes leaders from business, sustainability, net zero, and policy to discuss progress made at the pivotal climate summit. The focus: how to translate global climate ambitions into meaningful, local sustainability actions.

The central themes of this event will echo those of the main climate negotiations: clean energy, nature, and The Just Transition. We must see strong climate action and renewed commitments on all fronts, and the interdependencies of decarbonisation and regenerative restoration of nature will therefore be a central talking point of the evening.

Who should attend:

  • UK-based business leaders
  • Sustainability, CSR and Net-Zero professionals
  • Representatives from NGOs, academia and policy

ABOUT THE EVENT ORGANISERS

As the largest public broadcaster in the world, the BBC has a critical role to play in leading corporate climate action and developing a sustainable industry on and off-screen. The organisation is a signatory of the Climate Content Pledge – signed at COP26 – and a co-founder of the Journalism Climate Commitment, and the broadcaster continues to produce internationally renowned content that informs its audiences on environmental and social sustainability issues.

Earlier this year, the BBC published an industry-leading Transition Plan, setting out a clear and ambitious strategy to meet its net-zero targets and adopt a ‘Planet Positive’ approach across the organisation and throughout its supply chain.

At COP30 this year, the BBC aims to continue this industry leadership and advocacy when it comes to inspiring public and supplier engagement around the net-zero transition through content, storytelling and events.
