Cecilia Parker Aranha has been a Director of Consumer Protection at the United Kingdom’s Competition and Markets Authority since 2014. Cecilia is the Director with responsibility for the development of the CMA’s Green Claims Code (guidance for business on making environmental claims on goods and services), and for the CMA’s programme of investigations into misleading environmental claims, currently focused on the retail fashion and fast-moving consumer goods sector. She also contributed to the CMA’s advice to the UK Government on environmental sustainability and the competition and consumer protection regimes.

Cecilia represents the UK in the International Consumer Protection and Enforcement Network, a global network of more than 70 consumer protection bodies, whose mission is to protect consumers worldwide, co-leading work on greenwashing, and in the One Planet Network’s Working Group on Product Sustainability Information.

She lives with her husband, her cats and her composting worms.
