Sophie Goddard

Sophie Goddard is Director of Sustainability for Canary Wharf Group; the developer, contractor, and property manager who transform urban spaces into extraordinary environments. Sophie has previously led sustainability across the UK for the regional and specialist businesses within Balfour Beatty, the UK’s largest contractor. Sophie has also spent time in the retail industry where she led programmes to deliver sustainable outcomes in the Far East. With over 10 years of experience in a variety of roles and sectors, Sophie firmly believes that the private sector has a key role to play in responding to the climate crisis in a way which creates healthy and prosperous places to live and work.

Martin Baxter

Executive Director - Director of Policy & External Affairs, IEMA

Martin works in the UK and internationally to support the transition to a low carbon, resource efficient and sustainable economy. Martin leads IEMA’s policy and external engagement activity with government and business. A strategic thinker with the capability to lead and influence others, he has national and international experience in developing and negotiating global and European standards and developing capacity for effective and widespread implementation. Martin is head of the UK delegation to the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) on environmental management and chairs the ISO environmental management systems committee of ~100 countries. Martin has experience of networking and communicating at all levels – including with senior parliamentarians, Government officials, business leaders and academia. He is an acknowledged expert on environmental management and a regular spokesperson on corporate sustainability. Martin is a Board member of IEMA and the Society for the Environment (SocEnv).

Alison Butler

Sustainability Manager: Scope 3 Supply Chain Lead, BBC

Alison Butler works within the BBC Central Sustainability Team supporting the delivery of their Net Zero programme. As the Scope 3 Supply Chain Lead Alison is responsible for working with suppliers and supporting them on their Net Zero journey. Prior to joining the BBC Alison was the Sustainability Manager at The Very Group, a pure online retailer and was responsible for undertaking their carbon foot-printing project, managing their Net Zero strategy and working with their suppliers to reduce emissions. Alison also spent a number of years working in resource management in Local Government, implementing and managing services to reduce waste and increase recycling rates. Alison holds an Environmental Science degree from The University of Huddersfield and a Masters degree in Management Studies from Manchester Metropolitan University
