Sam is the Director of Manchester Climate Change Agency and Deputy Chair of Manchester Climate Change Partnership.
The Partnership brings together over 80 organisations from the city’s public, private and third sectors and is facilitated by the Agency to set Manchester’s science-based climate change strategy and targets and to work collaboratively to catalyse and champion positive climate action.
Recent initiatives include convening experts from across the built environment to accelerate the retrofit of commercial buildings and increase net zero standards for new buildings in local planning policy; creating a peer-to-peer learning forum for Partnership members to support each other’s organisational change; developing a citywide climate campaign via a virtual team pooled from member organisations; and empowering diverse communities to deliver inspiring climate projects in their neighbourhoods.
Sam is passionate about the power of working in partnership and the role of cities in creating a sustainable future. She has over 25 years of experience developing climate strategies for multiple sectors, collaborating at local and international levels, and running award-winning programmes helping thousands of companies reduce the energy and resource intensity of their operations and grow the green technology and services sector.
