Jack Watts is the Sustainability Group Lead at the National Farmers’ Union (NFU), where he oversees policy development to help UK agriculture meet climate and sustainability goals while supporting resilient and competitive farm businesses. His work focuses on pragmatic, evidence‑based policy that balances environmental ambition with real‑world farming practicality.

He began his career at the Home-Grown Cereals Authority (HGCA) and went on to hold several analytical and strategic roles at the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB), developing a reputation for clear market insight and agricultural economics expertise.

At the NFU, Jack has previously served as Chief Value Chain Analyst, Agri‑Food Policy Delivery Manager, and Chief Adviser for Combinable Crops, before stepping into his current sustainability leadership role in 2024.

Originally from Devon and raised on a family farm, Jack brings first-hand farming experience to his policy work. He holds a BSc in Agriculture from the University of Nottingham.
