Inspired by a deep-rooted understanding of the importance of the oceans to people, Dr Leanne Cullen-Unsworth is one of the original trustees and current CEO of the South Wales-based international marine conservation charity Project Seagrass. Leanne has worked over the last 20 years, immersed in researching marine resource use and its sustainability. Her passion for seagrass was ignited by the realisation that human well-being is directly interlinked with this incredible habitat which is a critical component of healthy seascapes. An interdisciplinary scientist, Leanne is devoted to strategically delivering conservation and restorative action based on secure and established science. Her goal is to improve the prospects of the millions of people intricately connected to seagrass ecosystems around the globe by using science to underpin a rapid expansion of conservation and restorative action for the marine environment more broadly.
