Our edie 25 Advisory Board is a forum of the most influential members of the edie community who meet, share ideas and experiences and advise on the shape of the event programme. Our Board members represent the key industries and job functions that this event is relevant for – from CEOs and Finance Directors to Sustainability Executives and Youth Activists.

Jon Khoo
Environmental Policy Lead, Policy & Global Engagement
Lego

Jon is the Environmental Policy Lead at the LEGO Group, with a focus on the UN Plastics Treaty, carbon strategy and the circular economy. Previously, he was the Head of Sustainability (Europe & Asia) at flooring manufacturer Interface. Jon is also the current Chair of Trustees for UK environmental charity Surfers Against Sewage who have a focus on water quality and ending sewage pollution. Jon has been attending and contributing to edie events for over a decade.

Oriol Margó
Sustainability Transformation Leader
Kimberly-Clark EMEA 

Oriol Margó is the Sustainability Transformation Leader for Kimberly-Clark in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

He’s responsible for developing and implementing the sustainability strategies on Climate, Plastics, Water and Climate footprint programs as well as Social Impact bringing a transformational approach to accelerate execution. In the past Oriol covered different areas of responsibility for Kimberly -Clark across EMEA in Value Stream, Cost Transformation, Research and Development, Engineering Project Management and Manufacturing with assignments and projects across its European production facilities.

Sam McCarthy

Sam currently works at Nando's UK and Ireland leading a bold agenda to reduce their impact on the climate crisis across restaurants and supply chain as well as increasing community relations and operational efficiency across the estate. Having worked in sustainability roles across higher education, professional services and now hospitality, he specialises in making high level sustainability ambitions achievable, taking colleagues and customers along that journey, to get real impact.  He also sits on the Operational Board for the Zero Carbon Forum supporting change and carbon reduction across the hospitality sector and supports Heart of the City on their Board Advisory Panel aiming to supports SMEs on their responsible business journey. Sam is an alumnus of edie’s 30 under 30 programme.

Yogita Popat

Barnet Council

As Programme Director – Culture & Sustainability at Barnet Council, London’s second largest borough; I am responsible for delivering our ambitious targets of becoming operationally net zero by 2030, but to also make the borough net zero as soon as possible after this but no later than 2042. More recently I have taken on our Arts & Culture portfolio, with responsibility for delivering the aspirations in our newly launched Culture Strategy. I have worked across multiple directorates in local government and with a focus on delivering actionable outcomes, I have led on some of Barnet's most outward facing projects, including Ofsted Improvement (making Barnet one of the fastest turnaround authorities), launch of the councils Insight and Intelligence Hub, and journey to Net Zero (going from a standing base of zero on the Climate Emergency UKs scorecards to being in top 40% of LA’s in 12-months).

Adam is the founder of Small99. Small99™ is helping small businesses to take positive action to reduce their carbon footprint to become more sustainable and profitable.

He is also the founder of the People, Planet, Pint movement which brings businesses and people together in an informal environment to discover what is going on locally on sustainability, and how they can get involved. This has grown to over 120 locations across the world since starting 2 years ago.

It all started because it’s easier to get a business owner to the pub than to a workshop, which continues to be true to this day…

Alex is CEO of Hubbub, a creative charity that inspires action that’s good for the environment, and for everyone. Hubbub's campaigns support individuals, households and communities to make a difference. By helping everyone get involved and building mainstream support for action on climate, Hubbub helps businesses and government to make positive choices too. Hubbub was named 'Charity of the Year' by Charity Times in 2023. 

After a successful career as an entrepreneur in the music industry, Alex turned to his passion for environmental and social issues, joining Hubbub in 2017. He thereby joined a very small group of people who have worked with both Snoop Dogg and KPMG. Follow Alex on LinkedIn here.

Becky Gordon

Becky serves as the Regional Sustainability Manager for the UK, Ireland, and Middle East at Interface, a globally recognised leader in innovative modular flooring. A passionate advocate for Interface’s Climate Take Back mission, Becky is dedicated to driving the commercialisation of sustainability within the built environment. She plays a pivotal role in fostering connections and collaboration with customers, the wider industry, and employees on critical issues such as climate change, the circular economy, and regenerative business practices.

With over 14 years of experience at Interface, Becky has held various commercial and sustainability roles, showcasing her expertise and commitment to sustainable development. In 2018, she further honed her skills by completing a Post-Graduate Certificate in Sustainable Value Chains from the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL).

Munish Datta

Munish is passionate about the crucial role every sector of society - government, business, civic, individuals - must play to create a truly equitable, inclusive, sustainable world. He is Director with Specsavers Group, leading the design and delivery of its global sustainable business strategy. As a sustainability advisor to BNP Paribas Real Estate (Investment Management), Munish provides strategic global insights, advice, and critical thinking.  In his roles as a Fellow of the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL) and Fellow of University of Cambridge Judge Business School, Munish empowers leaders from a variety of global businesses and start-ups to tackle critical challenges. Munish is Chair of the CISL Business Sustainability Programme, widely recognised as the world’s longest running, and most respected sustainability leadership programme. He is a trustee of sustainable development charities, Bioregional and Rama Foundation and a governor of the Stephen Perse Foundation of schools in Cambridge, UK. His previous roles include Director at UK Green Building Council and Head of Sustainability, Marks & Spencer. 

Andy Brown
Group Chief Sustainability Officer, Anglian Water

As Group Chief Sustainability Officer Andy Brown works with the Anglian Water’s board to oversee the delivery of their purpose, “to bring environmental and social prosperity to the region we serve through our commitment to Love Every Drop”. He has worked for over 10 years embedding sustainability & purpose throughout the business, overseeing the development of their six capitals framework and the Purpose Scorecard. He is the sponsor of their Sustainability Centre of Excellence and is working with their Group companies develop their sustainability frameworks.

Having worked in sustainability for the past 25 years he has led in the areas of natural environment, climate change adaptation and now sustainability & purpose. He has worked with BSI to develop PAS 808 Purpose Driven Organisations and now chairs BSI National Group on this subject. He is currently a member of BITC’s Place Taskforce and a member of the Regional Leadership Board. He is an external advisor and Chair of Tarmac’s Sustainability Panel. In 2021 & 22 he was also appointed as a Visting Fellow of Practice for the Government Outcomes Lab based at the Blavatnik School of Government in the University of Oxford focusing on place-based regeneration and responsible business.

James Fotherby
Senior Policy Officer
Aldersgate Group

James leads the Group’s work on green finance and supports the Group’s wider policy work, including decarbonising the built environment and low-carbon skills. 

Before joining the Aldersgate Group, James worked as a Policy Adviser at the independent environmental think tank and charity, Green Alliance. He ran their parliamentary green finance programme as well as researching and advocating on additional policy areas including green skills and just transition.

He holds a BA in Ancient History and a MSc in Anthropology, Environment, and Development from University College London, and has completed courses from the Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment (University of Oxford) and Birbeck Business School.

Lara Young
Global Head of ESG
Cromwell Property Group

Lara joined Cromwell Property Group in January 2023 after working in the construction and engineering industry for over 10 years. As Group Head of ESG, she works on further developing Cromwell’s existing ESG framework and bringing to life the Group’s ESG strategy. 

Prior to joining Cromwell, Lara was the driving force behind establishing and implementing Costain’s Climate Change Action Plan, which set out a detailed 15-year plan to transition to a net-zero organisation by 2035. She was most recently shortlisted as 2023 Net zero and Energy leader of the year at the edie sustainability awards and was named 2022 Young Person of the Year by the Construction Leadership Council (CLC). Lara has been the Chair of the Institution of Civil Engineer’s (ICE) Carbon Champion Review Panel since May 2021, a Chartered Environmentalist since 2020 and a Fellow of both the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) and the ICE since 2023. Lara was appointed a Board Member of the Society for the Environment in 2023.

Carolyn Ball
Director for Delivery of Net-Zero
Compass UK&I

Carolyn Ball was appointed Director for Delivery of Net Zero across Compass Group’s 6 sectors in the UK & Ireland in 2021 and also now sits on the Sustainability Leadership Team for the FTSE 25 Global Group.

She has 20 years’ experience in the food and drink industry spanning news reporting, trade journalism, 15th Century manuscript transcription (recipes) and commercial leadership roles in a start-up, SME and two PLCs.

This experience has given her a front row seat to understanding the nature, level and complexity of change required to revolutionise our food industry – one of the most complicated to decarbonise on earth.

Carolyn lives in Peterborough, is a wild swimming enthusiast, proud wife of a serving soldier, mum of two and best friends with the family St Bernard, Kubwa (Swahili for giant).

Leah Ramoutar    
Director of Environmental Sustainability    
AVIVA

Leah is the Director of Environmental Sustainability at Aviva, where she leads the Group’s Climate Centre of Excellence to deliver its net zero ambition and nature strategy.
Prior to joining Aviva, Leah was at Phoenix Group (the UK’s largest long-term savings and retirement business) for 14 years, serving as the Head of Climate and Nature Risk. 

She also previously held roles at European Capital, focused on pan-European equity and senior debt investing and Rianta Capital, focused on venture capital investing within emerging markets. Leah spent 5 years within the corporate finance practice of KPMG London, advising financial institutions and energy clients. She started her career in sustainable finance, supporting the SME sector across the Caribbean and South America. 

Leah is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and a graduate and Associate of King’s College, University of London.
